Theology of the Word
In my previous Blog I aluded to Esperanto becoming the New Latin of the Church. The rationale was the international charcter of the Church and the discrimination which existed concerning communication. In this respect the Church seems no more sensitive than the UN, EU and many NGOs.
However, there is another dimension which is even more fundamental: the Church is based upon a Word theology. This Word is Christ who reveals God. Christianity is more than a religion of the Book. Communication lies at the heart of Christian doctrine.
Esperanto is not a religion; but it is not bereft of values. And these values sit well with Christianity; so Christians using and advocating Esperanto can claim profound theological justification.
Esperanto is profoundly democatic, it is for the Rich Man and also for those who sit at his table! In the Middle Ages Latin was for the priveleged minority.
